Old Gourock

Cragburn Pavilion, venue for the town's weekly dances, the Cloch lighthouse and Gourock's famous open-air pool (one of only a handful left in the UK) are some of the sights featured in this book. The pier and station are shown in their heyday, with steamers alongside and wagons of coal standing by to refuel them. The Bay Hotel looks modern and stylish in photographs that were taken when it was newly-built, but latterly it had become a shabby eyesore, and was recently demolished. Other pictures cover all Gourock's major streets and landmarks, along with a few less familiar ones, such as the town's old copper mine.
