Old Blantyre

Photographs of the old Blantyre Mills show David Livingstone's workplace before he left Scotland for a new life in Africa as a missionary. Former landmarks in High and Low Blantyre include the old Picture House and Broadway cinemas, High Blantyre station and the tenements and shops that included the Station Cafe. There are long-lost mansions such as Millheugh House, and two interesting pictures of the nearby hamlet of Auchentibber - one showing its amazing statue garden and the other the local quoiting club.
