This autobiography of Struan K. Sutherland , titled "A Venomous Life", was published in November 1998, a title which in so many ways was incredibly apt. Never one to shirk an issue or shy from what he thought was right, he will best be remembered for the ground-breaking research he completed over many years into Australia?s venomous animals.
Most famously, he developed: an antivenom for Sydney?s deadly funnel-web spider; the first commercially viable snake venom protection kit; and the pressure immobilisation first-aid technique to treat snake bites.
