The Nepticuloidea & Tischerioidea (Lepidoptera) - a Global Review with Strategic Regional Revisions.
Apart from Northern Europe, the Nepticuloidea and Tischerioidea have so far been only poorly known. Therefore this book should be highly welcomed though it is in partly Lithuanian and only partly English. It is divided into the following chapters: Introduction to systematics and biodiversity(in Lithuanian); Methods and material (in Lithuanian); Mining Microlepidoptera (in Lithuanian); Nepticuloidea & Tischerioidea - the world context (partly Lithuanian, partly English); Strategic regional revisions with descriptions of new species (partly Lithuanian, partly English, descriptions of new species in English); Revised fauna of the Nepticulidae of Lithuania (in Lithuanian); Catalogue of the world Nepticuloidea & Tischerioidea (accompanying text in English); Index to Nepticuloidea & Tischerioidea names; Index to host-plants; Lithuanian terminology; References.
For non Lithuanian readers, the descriptions of the many new species and the World Catalogue are of special interest. In addition, the book is richly illustrated so that also a lot of valuable information can be extracted from the chapters in Lithuanian. Also very important are the indexes to names and to all host plants of the world fauna. The book discusses systematics and biodiversity in general, mining Microlepidoptera, provides methods and material and deals with the three families world wide: Nepticulidae, Opostegidae and Tischeriidae. The exhaustive review of Tischeriidae in English also provides a new classification and phylogeny with a new genus Astrotischeria. Taxonomic revisions of the Nepticulidae of Central Asia, East Asia, South and Central America together with re-assessments to the Indian-Nepalese nepticulids and South African tischeriids are given (in Lithuanian) and supported by taxonomic check lists to species. Totally, this book comprises descriptions of 41 new species (in English).
