Moths and Butterflies of Great Britian and Ireland:Vol 10;HARDBACK

The special Introductory chapter reviews ?The Incidence of Migrant Lepidoptera in the British Isles. The definition of migration is examined and categories of migration are defined. The species listed exclude the microlepidoptera, except for Pyraloidea. These are the principal subject of a later review which was published subsequently (Vol. 3) but it produces many interesting statistics of migration up to 1982.

The Systematic Section concludes the descriptions of Noctuidae, the largest family of Lepidoptera. Many familiar moths are covered in this volume including those in the subfamilies Cuculliinae (Sharks), Acronictinae (Daggers), the metallic-scaled Plusiinae, the Catocalinae (Red Underwings) and Hypeninae (Snouts).
