This text aims to provide biologists with sufficient grounding in statistical principles and methods to enable them to understand research reports in journals, decide on the most appropriate statistical tests for their own problems and finally to analyze and present their findings. This new edition also covers some more complicated statistics not included in the first edition. A major new chapter on "Multivariate Analysis" introduces the nature of multivariate problems and describes techniques of principal components analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis which are all applied to biological examples.
