Blowflies

Blowflies are very common and well known insects which most of us recognise as bluebottles and greenbottles. They are easy to keep in captivity and are therefore an ideal group to study. They are the subject of much research due to the parasitic nature of their larvae and their possible benefits to forensic scientists when determining time of death of corpses.
