Checkered Beetles. Illustrated Key to the Cleridae of the Western Palaearctic.

This identification key deals with all Cleridae and Thanerocleridae species of the Western Palaearctic. The introductory part gives a general idea of the classification and biology of the checkered beetles. The dichotomous keys lead to the families, subfamilies, genera and species. Numerous detailed illustrations complete the keys and therefore enable easy and exact determination. Many line drawings of typical exponents facilitate identification of the genera and the species. Some of the species are represented are pictured for the first time.

A short characterization of each species completes the determination. 128 coloured photographs on 8 plates show most of the species. Information on the occurrence of many species is also given in distribution maps. The list of references contains the most systematic and faunistic publications since 1950.
