Durham...Old Barnard Castle

The horse fair in lower Galgate, soldiers of the Durham Light Infantry marching through the town, the Red Lion Hotel (now demolished) and of course the Market Cross are among the many places and events illustrated in this book. Other views of Barney show buildings decked with ornate decorations for the North Eastern Cyclists Meet, the old gasworks, the station, and Amen Corner, another of the town's lost landmarks.
