Look Back At Old Aberbeeg & Llanhilleth:Vol 2
Within close proximity of each other; the towns of Llanhilleth and Aberbeeg were once vitally important centres in terms of industrial wellbeing in the western valley of Monmouthshire, South Wales. The colliery at Llanhilleth provided almost 2000 jobs at its zenith, the railway workings, another colliery and a renowned brewery contributed even further to the local economy. All that however is now in the past and any remaining evidence of this activity is meagre to say the least, it resting with the almost 100-year old Workmen's Institute in Llanhilleth, still a popular centre of entertainment and an aptly named group of houses known as Brewery Row in Aberbeeg.Whilst the publishers have been responsible for preceding books illustrating the life and scenery in this part of Wales, there are more than two hundred fascinating photographs to be seen in this latest volume all of which are published for the very first time in such an ensemble.
