Old Wishaw
Old Wishaw took the town by storm when it was first published, outselling every other book in the area, including Michael Palin's latest best-seller. It includes Netherton, Craigneuk, the Glen Mill, West Cross, Low Main Street, Main Street (the whole length of it), Kirk Road, Caledonian Road, the Cross, Stewarton Street, Hill Street and Belhaven Road. There's some interesting social history in the shape of a Lipton's shop front, the Royal Naval Ambulance Train in the station in 1918, Gilchrist the famous bone-setter, a horse-drawn Co-op milk cart and a view of Wishaw fair. It's a really first-rate selection of pictures accompanied by Rhona Wilson's usual rattling text.
