Bygone Bellshill
The schools, factories, streets and shops of Bellshill and Mossend are shown here in the first half of the nineteenth century. There's a picture of the town's firemen posing on what was probably a state-of-the-art fire engine when the photo was taken in 1912, and several shots of vehicles built by Archibald Scott's garage, including an ice-cream van supplied to the far-flung Antigua Dairy Co. The local Co-op's shop and headquarters is featured, along with a picture of one of their popular annual gala days. Also included are a group of pupils from Bellshill Public School, T. M. Anderson's combined newsagent's and hairdresser's, vintage views of the Cross, and much more.
