Old Stonehaven

Stonehaven once thrived as a fishing port, and many pictures in this book illustrate fishing families mending and baiting lines, and the fishing fleet going about its business. Some of the more unusual subjects include a whale that was beached in the bay in 1906, waves crashing over the promenade, and trees - washed down by a flood - jamming Cowie Bridge. The town itself is covered extensively, and pictures include the former Queen's Cinema and the old poorhouse, which has recently been converted into flats.
