Old Midmar & Cromar with Torphins and Lumphanan

The districts of Aberdeenshire covered in this book lie 'twixt Dee and Don' and, collectively, the villages in this area are known as Midmar and Cromar. A rural region dependent on agriculture, it was transformed by the arrival of the railway in the nineteenth century and benefited from the North Sea oil boom of the twentieth. This book tells its story, accompanied by over 55 photographs from the early 1900s. The villages and communities featured include Logie Coldstone, Milton of Cushnie, Tarland, Lumphanan, Craigievar, Tornaveen, Torphins, Glassel, Comers and Midmar.
