Branch Line to Ilfracombe
The scenic branch from Bamstaple once carried heavy trains in the holiday season, many requiring two locomotives on the severe gradients. The mixture of splendid scenery with Western and Southern rolling stock resulted in an interesting and memorable railway route, latterly regarded as the end of the main line from Waterloo.
