Lanarkshire's Legendary Cinemas

Cinemas in seventeen Lanarkshire towns are featured, ranging from glorified sheds (such as the Ritz in Lesmahagow) to art deco palaces and architectural flights of fantasy like the Windsor in Carluke. Some of these popular childhood haunts have survived (often as bingo halls), but many have been demolished. Pictures of the interiors reveal that cutting-edge styling often continued beyond the facade of these remarkable buildings.
