Miller's Encyclopedia of British Transfer-printed Pottery Patterns,1790 - 1930
Beginning with a short introduction and description of printed (transferware) pottery, this unique guide is then divided by subject category, such as Animals, Buildings, Chinoiserie etc. These categories are then sub-divided with individual patterns illustrated and identified, with cross-references for patterns that fall into more than one subject category. Each colour photograph has a caption with the essential information needed on pattern, maker, date, available colours, and any other useful items such as whether the pattern is particularly rare or was specifically made for export. The photos are also accompanied by any borders and marks that go with that pattern, making this an invaluable sourcebook for every collector or dealer in printed pottery. Additional chapters help identify uncommon shapes and concentrate on the different types of plates and cups available.
