Burleigh - The Story of a Pottery - narrates the history of Burgess, Dorling & Leigh Ltd. and its products as Staffordshire earthenware manufacturers. The company's roots stretch back to 1862 when as Burgess & Leigh they took over another small pottery in Burslem. The book follows the fortunes of the firm through the 20th century until its demise in 1999 and its re-birth as Burgess, Dorling & Leigh. Featured are the Art Deco wares designed between the wars by Charlotte Rhead, Charles Wilkes and Ernest Bailey. Also included are many colour plates of Burleigh Ware plus backstamps and pattern listings.
