Cheese Dishes: An Illustrated Guide from 1750-1940

A detailed study of English pottery Cheese Dishes, the only book in print to inform the collector. Includes examples from the early wooden cheese stands to the first ceramic dishes by Wedgwood and Spode. The latter were chiefly nineteenth century Stilton cheese stands using many kinds of decorative techniques - embossed, jasper, inlaid, printed, majolica and terracotta. The introduction of wedge-shaped dishes, followed by the various different shapes which became popular in the twentieth century completes the story. Photographs - many in colour - cover a wide range of manufacturers including Wedgwood, Spode, Dudson, Minton, Adams, George Jones, Moorcroft, Royal Doulton and more.
